Editing is to writing what proofreading is to editing. After initial rounds of edits, a proofreader should check your copy to fix errors that might have been eluded the editor.
Proofreading is light editing and your copy must have been edited at least once before this last and final stage.
In proofreading, we’ll check for consistency and correct surface errors in the following:
- Spelling; and
It doesn’t hurt to have a new pair of eyes double-check your copy after some initial rounds of editing.
